Homes for sale in Audubon Park Orlando – Audubon Park Orlando Florida is situated 3 miles northeast of the heart of downtown Orlando. Audubon Park was first settled in the 1950's. This charming community has lovely tree lined streets of brick and three lakes, Lake Druid, Lake Cay Dee and Lake Shannon. The homes in Audubon Park were mostly developed throughout the 1950's. There is an old time charm about Audubon Park, with residents who are active in neighborhood events.
The Audubon Park community consists of more than 1148 homes with a population of about 2,500 residents. The neighborhood boundaries are from N Bumby Avenue on the West, to Bennet Road on the East, to Maguire Boulevard and Weber Street on the South, to Corrine Drive on the North. Audubon Park Neighborhood History - Natives recall Coytown and Audubon Park springing up in the 1940's when Fashion Square Mall was still a cow pasture and there only the air base on the eastern horizon. Most of the development of the area occurred in the early 1950's when Sorenson and Fletcher built houses on Chelsea Street and Falcon Drive. In the early 1950's lots sold for $1000 and houses between $18,000 and $24,000 for lake-front property in Audubon Park. These same newly-renovated homes now sell for much more. In 1993, the City of Orlando completed the Colonial Town Center Plan, a 20-year growth plan for East Colonial Drive. The Colonial Town Center, which has been designated a metropolitan activity center in Orlando's Growth Management Plan will be a tremendous asset to Audubon Park and Coytown neighborhoods by providing economic and entertainment opportunities for the area. Although the closing of the Naval Training Center will undoubtedly result in a period of uncertainty and realignment, the growth scenarios made in the Colonial Town Center Plan assume that the NTC site will, by the year 2010, be occupied by land uses of roughly similar employment, population and impact.
